Short Breaks

Could you become a short break foster carer?

Blackburn with Darwen’s Lets Foster service are looking for people who can offer some regular commitment to providing short breaks to support a child or young person at risk of coming into care.

This can mean anything from an overnight stay to a period of several months. Short-term foster carers provide a temporary place to stay until the child can return home to their own family or a longer-term fostering placement or adoption arrangement can be made.

Short break arrangements are based on the needs of the child and can vary from:

• A night or so per week

• A regular weekend ie once or twice a month

• Part of a school holiday

• A specific period of time

If you have a spare bedroom and feel that you can help a child or young person then we want to hear from you.
