Jointly funded fostering film project – ‘Everything’

‘Everything’ is a new fostering awareness-raising film being jointly funded by over 100 councils, scheduled for launch in October 2024.

It is being created by ReelTwentyFive and project managed by Rachel Brown (formerly of Coventry City Council). This is the team that produced previous films ‘Any Of Us’, ‘Childhood’, ‘Out There’, ‘There Was A Boy’ and ‘Giants’, which were all jointly funded by council fostering services. View the history of the fostering film project.

‘Everything’ will look at the positive long-term impact fostering can have on those involved, showing one fostering household’s journey over decades. It will feature a couple of time hops, telling the stories of two people, Will and Zara (now adults) who were fostered as children by Mike and his wife. The film will also show the important role birth children play as part of a fostering household.

‘Everything’ is being developed with foster carers and people who have care experience. They are providing some superb insights and ideas, ensuring that the film is produced accurately and sensitively.

As with all the previous films, ‘Everything’ will contain emotional and dramatic moments that will really engage the target audience, encouraging them to take the next step and find out more about fostering.

Everything Film 2024

Fostering can be tough but using the training provided and your own skills, fostering can be one of the most rewarding things you can do. Making a real difference to a child’s life, offering stability and support through the most troubled time in their lives.

Blackburn with Darwen offers full training and support, local offers and discounts like the gym and days out, a generous payment package, your own Social Worker who will be there with you every step of the way and the chance to be part of a team that is passionate about making a real difference to children and young people in our area.

There is a national shortage of foster carers, so there has never been a more important time to start your fostering journey. With record numbers of children in care and around 13 per cent of the foster carer workforce retiring or leaving every year, The Fostering Network estimates that fostering services across the UK need to recruit at least a further 6,500 foster families in the next 12 months alone.

That’s 760 fostering households in the North West where there is a particular need for foster carers to look after teenagers and sibling groups.
