Emergency Fostering

Could you become a foster carer for a child in an emergency?

Blackburn with Darwen’s Let’s Foster are looking for people who could take a child or young person at a moments notice. This could be after school for one night or over a weekend until arrangements have been made for a more permanent solution. Emergency foster carers normally have other jobs but are able to help us help a child or young person when they need them most. Could you offer Emergency foster care to someone at a time they need help the most?

Emergency carers are paid at a rate of £8 per hour with a maximum claim total of 8 hours each day. Emergency foster carers can also claim an additional overnight rate at £50. This means for one day with overnight they are paid a total of £114.00. This is capped at a total period of 3 nights, so you would be able to claim a total of £342.00.

If you have a spare bedroom and feel that you can help a child or young person then we want to hear from you.
